My foundation routine! ๐Ÿ’—

A lot of you have been asking about my foundation routine... So I've finally decided to take the time to blog about it for all of you! I am going to list some of my favorite drugstore products in the order of which I use them and describe how I apply them the best that I can! If anyone wants to know what my favorite high ends are at the moment feel free to DM me on Twitter, Instagram or send me an email to KeepItKittenish@gmail.com ๐Ÿ’‹ Love you all!

First and foremost... With the cooler months approaching us (faster than we wish they would)... It's important to prime your skin! If your skin is dry, all of those flakes and patches will immediately cake when your foundation is applied! I love L'Oreal True Match Light Infusing Primer just for a little extra glow! When applying a primer... I like to use my hands. Make sure you pat this into the areas that are the driest and to where your pores are the most visible. If you don't pat and you rub... You can cause some unwanted redness and tugging on your skin is never good!
Now that we've prepped and primed our skin... It's time to apply our foundation! I love the glow that L'Oreal True Match lumi gives my skin! However, if you're an oily girl... Stick to the regular True Match foundation so you don't end up looking like you rubbed oil all over your face an hour after all of this work!
Using this Custom Coverage Buffing Brush by Eco Tools... I then pump about 3 pumps onto the back of my hand and push some product into the brush and start pressing it into my skin. Once I have stippled it into my skin, I will then use circular motions to buff it in everywhere. Don't forget to put a little under your chin and blend into your neck. You never want that dreaded "line"!
After my foundation is completely applied I will then use this little gem! Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer is a great concealer for hiding those dark under eye circles that most of us women are blessed with. I also love the applicator! Always go SLIGHTLY lighter than your foundation, never darker, to brighten your under eye area. Place this under my eyes... On my lids... Down the center of my nose... In the center of my chin... And a little in the center of my forehead.
I then take one of these bad boys and soak it under water... Squeeze it out.. And start blending all of that concealer into my foundation. You always want to pat and press with a beauty blender! Besides, you don't want to move that concealer away from where you placed it! You're just trying to blend it in so it matches beautifully!
Immediately, you will want to set all of your work with a setting powder! I like to use a large fluffy brush and really focus on where the concealer was placed. A little bit goes a very long way with a loose powder but if you don't set it.. All of your concealer will move into places you might not want it or away from the areas you do. The main reason why I focus on the areas where the concealer is... And not really anywhere else is so I can remain dewy and luminous in the places where only foundation is applied. Again, if you are oily, you're going to want to set your entire face with the powder.
My favorite brush to use for this job is this  Large Powder Brush by Eco Tools. So soft and works really really well with loose powders as well as compact powders.
Now... To bronzer. I love this Matte Bronzer by NYX Cosmetics! It's amazing and wears all day! I like to use the medium shade to contour with a brush like this...
This Domed Bronzer Brush by Eco tools is amazing. I'll kind of pinch the head of the brush between my fingers and contour under my cheekbones. When contouring... You're going to want to start almost at your hairline under your cheekbones and bring it in about 1 inch away from the corners of your mouth. Bringing it in any further than that can age you... We don't want that. I'll then put a little everywhere else the sun hits. I usually don't add extra product on the brush for this but I'll place some on my temples... The tip of my nose and my chin.
This is one of my FAVORITE blushes of ALL time! Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso is an amazing pinky, coral blush with a touch of luminosity. Not really glitter or shimmer... But just a gorgeous glow.
Using this Angled Blush Brush to apply... Start above your contoured area near the hairline and start there and bring a light sweep over the apples of your cheeks. A LOT of girls make the mistake of just applying blush to the apples of their cheeks and it ends up fading away rather quickly and leaving you with two small pink circles. Not. Too. Flattering.
Here's your last step, ladies! From about an arms length away spray this setting spray about two times all over your face and let dry naturally! Your makeup will NOT move. I promise!

I hope you all enjoyed this blog! I hope you learned something new that you can do to help create a beautiful flawless face that lasts all day! Remember... KeepItKittenish ๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿ˜ป๐Ÿ’‹

Drugstore Dupe List for Jessie James Decker's "Girls Night Out" Tutorial

Here's another dupe list for all of you interested in getting the same look that Jessie has in the latest makeup tutorial she created for Cosmopolitan Magazine for a fun and sexy girls night out!

Here is the link: http://youtu.be/48m9nR58mf4

This time, Jessie decided to go for a sexy, shimmery look while swapping out dramatic eyes and a nude lip for shimmery eyes and a bold red lip. I am absolutely in love with the way her makeup looks in this tutorial. So classic... Still sex kitten as usual with a little twist. We also got to see a sneak appearance of Vivianne! Even though she had a boo-boo fingy... She was still so happy and is a very vocal baby! So adorable listening the all of those baby "coo's"! Now... Let me get you on your way to your kittenish look for less!

This eyeshadow trio by CoverGirl is almost spot on for Jessie's favorite from Nars. It might even be a little more shimmery in my opinion! Now remember... Drugstore cosmetics seem to be much less long wearing and have less pigment... So don't be afraid to really dip your brush in there!

Jessie loves to use "Himalaia" by Nars as an under brow highlight! The third shadow in the CoverGirl dupe previously posted is PERFECT for that. Since this trio is paired together perfectly... The under eye highlight really makes it pop! Besides... $4 for two different uses from this tutorial?! How can you go wrong?

This eyeliner pen by benefit may be a gel... But this own marker from NYX Cosmetics is SUPER easy to control! Also, with such a fine tip, you can get that thin, defined line that Jess uses this time around!

L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes... Is pretty much the exact same thing as Benefit's They're Real Mascara. They both have "plastic" brushes instead of bristles. Makes things a little easier because it is much more flexible than a wand made with wire down the center! You can get all of the teeny tiny ones this way!

This lip liner by NYX Cosmetics is an exact dupe in color to the one by a Laura Mercier! Perfect to recreate that little ombrรจ effect Jess creates by using a liner that's a little deeper than her lipstick shade.

Next, Jessie uses a lipstain, by Benefit called Benetint. That way you don't look like you were sucking on a red popsicle once your red lip starts to wear as the night goes on. At 1/3 of the retail cost of the Benetint... This CoverGirl stain is perfect! It tastes really good too! Had a fruity taste! I LOVE these stains!

This Jumbo Lip Pencil in Plush Red by NYX is an excact dupe for the Lorac Pro Matte! They're both warmer tone reds and both glide on smooth and easy! The small pointy tip is great if you have a really defined "Cupid's Bow" like I do!

The Ulta Brand baked bronzer is fantastic! Sometimes baked bronzers can be a little gritty in texture... Almost having a glitter to then. The Lorac Tantalizer and this bronzer are similar in texture and are booth smooth and long wearing!

Unfortunately, because it's such a new product... I do not have a dupe yet for Benefit's Gimme Brow. It's a very original formula with fibers inside to bulk up your brows! When I find one I will let you all know right away!

As always, I hope you enjoyed this blog! Make sure to Keep It Kittenish, mermaids!

KeepItKittenish's Review On Younique Cosmetics/ 3D Fiber Lash Mascara

Jennifer Fowler, A representative with Younique Cosmetics, contacted me and wanted me to blog about her makeup! I was absolutely honored! At first, I was skeptical of course, as with any product line (I'm not really the type to step outside of the box too often) but I figured hey.. what do I have to lose here? BOY was I WRONG! I am in LOVE with Younique Cosmetics! Let me tell you ... I have figured out why some of you have "spider lash" which is why I didn't purchase this item honestly. They tell you to use a coat of your favorite mascara first before applying the Transplanting Gel..well.. that's where you can ruin EVERYTHING! If you use a mascara with any kind of "volume building" properties whatsoever.. You're setting yourself up for disaster! I used Maybelline's Lash Stiletto, for length ONLY, which was perfect! You see... Younique's Fiber Lash 3D Mascara builds your lashes up to 300X their original volume and length. That's about all your lashes can handle... anything more than that makes you have "Spider Lash" instead of gorgeous false looking lashes! Now.. on to my reviews!

First of all... lets talk about how excited I was when I opened my bag of goodies! :-D I received three of Younique's Moodstruck Mineral Pigment, one Younique Lucrative Lipgloss (yes... that's a friggin mirror on the lip gloss itself.. BRILLIANT), a lash and brow comb, Younique's Glamorous Natural Face & Eye Mineral Makeup Primer and the FABULOUS 3D Fiberlash Mascara! I do NOT hate one of these.. At. All.

First, I want to talk about this fabulous lip gloss! I'm obsessed and its all I have been wearing over lipstick and alone for the past two days! It glides on so smooth! The packaging is gorgeous! Its in a beautiful glass tube, has a flexible sponge-tip applicator and there is a mirror on the side of the tube! I love how it feels.. and it has no scent whatsoever (to me anyway). Might be my new favorite gloss! It retails for $15 a piece or 3 lip glosses for $40! This lip gloss is drugstore price and wears like my Christian Dior glosses!

Second, lets discuss these Moodstruck Mineral Pigments.. wow! Pigmented isn't even the word! I used a teeny tiny bit to get these swatches.. my favorite is Confident! Its a coppery brown with tons of shimmer! Its gorgeous! I'm also a huge fan of Sexy for a lid color! Its a pretty shimmery pink but its kind of translucent which is perfect for a lid.. especially in the summertime! The center color, Angelic, is a shimmery white which would be perfect to highlight under your brow or in your inner corners to make your eyes pop! These can also be used as a hair chalk and can be mixed in nail polishes! Pretty cool, huh? The pigments retail for $10 a piece or 4 pigments for $35. These are definitely pretty pigmented and create gorgeous true to tone swatches.. with or without primer!

This primer is one of my FAVORITE primers I have ever used! Its amazing! Younique's Glorious Natural Face & Eye Mineral Makeup Primer! This glides on so smooth! To me.. its more of a serum than a traditional primer that we are used to slopping all over our face. It goes on clear and is Hypoallergenic! Most of their cosmetics are by the way! My favorite was that its a two in one product! Its for your eyes and your face! My makeup lasted all day and my shadows did not crease at all! Win win for me! This primer retails for $39.

Ok... here it is folks.. the one you have all been waiting for. My review on Younique's 3D Fiber Lash Mascara! Well... I really don't have to say anything... the pictures say it all! As I've said before... I've seen SO many girls who rock this mascara and look AWFUL! As a makeup artist... I know that putting too much volumizing mascara on someones lashes can end up disastrous... never mind when your putting fibers on top of that as well. Yikes. Spikes. hehe Here are my steps...

1. Start with fresh, clean and dry lashes.
2. Apply one coat of any lengthening mascara of your choice.. nothing that builds volume.
3. Open both tubes and hold them in your non-dominant hand.
4. Once the mascara is dry.. apply Younique's Transplanting Gel to one eye (you need to do one eye at a time here).
5. While the Transplanting Gel is still wet... apply fibers to lashes.
6. Apply Transplanting Gel one more time over the fibers to lock them in place.

These photos were taken using only the steps above. If I end up daring to add more fibers I will post pictures on Twitter and Instagram, but my lashes were already touching my eyebrows haha

All in all.. I would rate Younique's cosmetics an 8 out of 10. That is with 10 being my favorite of all time that knocks my socks off! Younique is a fabulous makeup line! Most of their cosmetics are hypoallergenic which is fantastic and you can wear the mascara even if you are a contact lens wearer like myself!

Drugstore Dupe List for Jessie James Decker's Kittenish Makeup Tutorial

Drugstore "Dupe" List for Jessie James Decker's Kittenish Makeup Tutorial

High End: Makeupforever Full Cover Concealer - $32 at Sephora
Displaying photo 1.JPG

Drugstore: NYX HD Full Coverage Concealer Jar - $6 at Ulta.
Displaying photo 2.JPG
It is pretty much an exact dupe for the Makeup Forever Full Cover. I'm in love. It even covers tattoos! You will want to set this with a translucent loose powder, such as - NYX HD Studio Finishing Powder - $10 at Ulta... That way it won't settle into any fine lines for the less fortunate. NYX is my holy grail makeup line. It's very reasonable and fabulous!

High End: Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick - $44 at Sephora
Displaying photo 3.JPG

Drugstore: NYX Mineral Stick Foundation $10 at Ulta
Displaying photo 4.JPG
This little miracle foundation stick is wonderful news for girls who like that natural, dewy look. It is very lightweight, (thanks to the minerals) and build able. Besides... Who doesn't want a perfect foundation in a stick form that can go anywhere? You can also use it in a shade lighter on areas you want to highlight and blend. I recommend using an angled head foundation brush to blend this product in. Use clockwise motions. I'll post links to everything at the end. I really love Eco Tools brushes.

High End: Stila 60 Watts - $28 at Ulta
Displaying photo 1.GIF

Drugstore: NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation - $9.50 at Ulta
Displaying photo 3.JPG
Now... Over the foundation you've already put on... Lightly cover all areas immediately with a large fluffy brush to make sure all of the work that you did stays all day! This will also prevent any unwanted shininess!

High End: Bareminerals Top Shelf Mixologist - $20 at Ulta
Displaying photo 4.JPG

Drugstore: NYX Love in Rio Eyeshadow Palette in Bikini Bottom - $6 at Ulta
Displaying photo 5.JPG
I'm obsessed with the Love In Rio Palette's. I love how pigmented they are and how they stay on all day. The first color... And the second color... Are dead ringers for the BareMinerals! The last color, you can sub for the Darkhorse from Urban Decay she used under her eyes to smoke it up.

It's really not necessary to use the Naked Palette for this look. If you already have it, that's great! But if you can't afford the splurge right now... You certainly don't have to.

High End: Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil - $23 at Ulta
Displaying photo 5.JPG

Drugstore: Maybelline Define - A - Brow - $6 at Ulta
Displaying photo 2.JPG
My favorite drugstore pencil ever! You don't have to sharpen it and there is a little comb on the end to blend it to save money on buying an extra tool!

High End: Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel - $22 at Ulta
Displaying photo 3.JPG

Drugstore: Cover Girl Natural Lash Mascara (Clear) - $6 at Ulta
Displaying photo 4.JPG
PERFECT for a light hold to lock in that pencil after achieving your desired brow!

High End: Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder - $40 at Sephora
Displaying photo 5.JPG

Drugstore: NYX Matte Bronzer - $9 at Ulta
Displaying photo 1.JPG
My go to bronzer. There isn't any shimmer. It's perfect for contouring and they also have MANY shades to choose from. Perfect dupe for Bobbi Brown's (or anyone for that matter) bronzer! It also won best bronzer in Allure Magazine in 2011!

High End: Bobbi Brown Lip Liner in Beige - $22 at Sephora
Displaying photo 2.JPG

Drugstore: NYX Retractable Lip Liner  - $4.50 at Ulta
Displaying photo 3.JPG
Purchase either Natural or Nude. Whatever you feel fits your skin tone best. One is a little warmer than the other. You don't want to go much darker than your lip color. Over line the top and bottom just a little bit.

High End: Benefit Lady's Choice - Naturally Nude - $20 online
Displaying photo 4.JPG

Drugstore: NYX Black Label Lipstick in Dusty rose - $7.50 at Ulta
Displaying photo 5.JPG
Exact dupe for Benefit Ladies Choice lipstick. It's exact. You won't be sorry!

High End: Urban Decay Revolution Naked Lipstick - $22 at Sephora
Displaying photo 1.PNG

Drugstore: Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick in Airy Fairy - $5 at drugstores
Displaying photo 2.JPG
An exact replica of the Naked lipstick that Jessie showed us in the video. It's really beautiful.

High End: Bobbi Brown Brightening Lip Gloss - $25 at Sephora
Displaying photo 3.JPG

Drugstore: NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Baby Rose - $5 at Ulta

Displaying photo 4.JPG
An AMAZING brightening lip gloss! Very comparable to the Bobbi Brown!

High End: Kat Von D Autograph Liquid Liner - $16 at Ulta
Displaying photo 5.JPG

Drugstore: NYX Two Timer - $10 at Ulta
Displaying photo 1.JPG
Dual Ended Eyeliner - Yup... Ya heard that right. A dual ended liner where one end is a pencil... And the other is a liquid. Kills two birds with one stone for this dupe list! Obsessed.

L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara - Black - $7 at Drugstores or Ulta. No. Dupe. Needed. Holy grail of Mascaras. (In my opinion)

High End: Surratt Blush - $32 at Barney's
Displaying photo 3.JPG

Drugstore: NYX Powder Blush in Pinched - $5 at Ulta.
Displaying photo 4.JPG
Love this blush. Pretty baby pink with a little shimmer. Very similar to the Surratt and complements a bronzed look very well.

High End: Surratt Highlighter - $32 at Barney's (highlighter is in blush palette)

Drugstore: NYX Radiant Powder -  $9 at Ulta
Displaying photo 2.JPG
Use this with a blush brush in the same areas that Jessie used the highlighter to accentuate your beautiful features.

Recommended Brushes for this look:
